ABOUT

Scott K. Nelson, CLI, CFE, is the principal of S. K. Nelson & Company. Employed exclusively as a private sector investigator the last 37 years, he has been a fixture in Central California's legal and investigative communities virtually his entire adult life. 

Nelson began his career in the mid-1980s as a staff investigator in a law office working under the tutelage of trial attorneys and paralegal staff. Later, he served as an investigator with what was then one of the San Joaquin Valley's oldest private investigative agencies, leaving as a vice president to start S. K. Nelson & Company in 1992. Since that time he has conducted and supervised virtually every type of legal investigation imaginable. His clients include some of the Central Valley's finest law firms, numerous public entities, former state and federal prosecutors, elected officials, and private enterprise.

 
Nelson has attained the prestigious Certified Legal Investigator® and Certified Fraud Examiner credentials through the professional certification programs of the National Association of Legal Investigators and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a Certified Professional Investigator through the California Association of Licensed Investigators.

 
Nelson has been licensed by the California Department of Consumer Affairs since 1990. He has received basic and advanced training in the Reid Technique® of Interview and Interrogation, and he is an Employment Risk Management Authority approved investigator.

 

Nelson is a member of the National Association of Legal Investigators and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a charter member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and served on that organization's best practices committee.

 

Nelson has served in a variety of industry association offices at the national, state and local levels, including local program committee chair, national fund raising committee chair, legislative committee member, district governor, and as a regional director responsible for the administration of membership in six western states.
